Kris Lorkin
Dental Hygienist
Kris started her dental career in 1993 as a dental assistant. It became quickly apparent that this was a career path she felt passionate and compelled towards, resulting in her studying to become a dental nurse and engaging in a range of specialist education such as Dental Radiography and Oral health education. After gaining international experience working and living in London, she decided to return to further academic studies, this time completing a Bachelor of Oral health at the University of Newcastle, graduating in 2011. Kris’s professional experience has been diverse, having engaged in many different areas of dentistry including Periodontist Orthodontics and Head and neck cancer specialist dentistry. Her experience spans the generational spectrum, having experience with both paediatric dentistry and working with the elderly in Nursing homes.
With the progressing body of literature that demonstrates the relationship between dental health and overall systemic health outcomes, Kris has become a strong advocate for preventative dental care. In 2019 she again stretched her professional boundaries to study a graduate certificate in Health Promotion at the University of Wollongong. She is committed to maintaining an evidence based practice approach and is continually updating her professional skills to provide you with latest techniques and knowledge both in general and cosmetic dentistry.
Kris is aware of the importance of removing barriers that typically result in patients fearing or avoiding the dentist. She is passionate about creating a safe space for children, young people and adults through providing a supportive, relaxed and caring environment.
When Kris is not working hard to improve your oral health you will find her working on her fitness, in her garden, planning her next trip away or track side cheering on her daughters in their athletics careers. Kris has been volunteering with her local Little Athletic centre for many years firstly as an age manger and more recently as the club register.
